Misunderstood

*Sigh*
You must have a certain degree of “skin thickness” to make your thoughts public. I know that I am not saying anything new, but it is a lesson that I have learned from experience.
Also, as a blogger/writer, in a very similar way as any teacher or professor, you must come to terms with the fact that oftentimes people will not read/hear what you say carefully and will nonetheless react in a non optimal way – sometimes rather rudely – to it. It is quite frustrating, but I guess it is part of the deal.
Again, *sigh*…
Anyway, funny enough, my most popular post, bar none, is by far the most misunderstood. It it titled How Much do I Hate Autism? and I originally published it more than a year ago. I got quite a few comments, the good and polite, the not so polite and the rather rude and disrespectful. I have been called names, called an unfit and a horrible father, you name it. I usually delete the comments with insults and swearing. You see, I can take disagreement, but not disrespect, especially when it is absolutely clear that the “insulters” (I know this is not an actual word) never read anything past the title. In fact, I had to add the following subtitle to the post in order to minimize the nastiness:
“Read the post before yelling at me”

What I am trying to say with all of this is that I may hate what autism sometimes does to my son, but I love him unconditionally, just as I love my two “typical” children.
